Stray Thoughts (1)

Thursday (after a string of classes stretching 9 1/2 hrs from 8am):
We were (kinda) working in one of the cells in the library after mingling with friends at the 'mamak'. A dear friend came in giggly & flushed with excitement (at the flightful sight of her crush a moment ago)...She asked:" How many months pregnant?", indirectly seeking our opinion- "Do I look fat?"

We were slightly agaped, stuck on how to reply...
She had a while ago asked me the same thing and I had said:"No- try to be confident with yourself..." I was sincere but felt somewhat helpless - I know she is not convinced...but who would?
...however, this time, with mild curiosity, I wait for the guys to say something.

Receiving "there's no difference!", she jovially left -I am not sure if she is satisfied, I do not know if any answer makes an immediate difference on a person's self-perception in this case.
My friend then stated:" That's the difference between a guy & a girl. A girl would look at the mirror and see all the...the fats; but a guy would see himself!"
I cannot deny that, but the issue is - How do we respond to these questions?

Too many times my girlfriends would say:" Arh~I am getting fat!", "I look bloated!", or the sorts......What can I say?
Do we say:" YEala~ go on diet lOrr..." - not everyone would take it humorously; or if we say:" No you ain't." - seldom will a person be convinced, and would think that we are just trying to cheer them up or avoid hurting them.
I sometimes prefer to be silent- as I really have nothing to say.

To all my friends out there- you are ALL beautiful. Even If you think you are ugly, IT REALLY MAKES NO DIFFERENCE! B'Coz we still love you - for YOU. :)
